He was predeceased by: his parents, Birlie Newby, Sr. and Alva Lee Smith; and his sister Helen Bernice Phillips. He is survived by: his sons, Byron Anthony and Brian Scott (Sandra); his wife Lillie; his grandchildren, Sierra Alexia, Alexander Mikhail and Kennedy Amora; and his brother Dr. James Edward Newby (Patricia).
