He was loved and cherished by many people including: his child Mizzou; his parents, Richard Fleming and Ruth "Louise" Fleming Jordan; his wife Patricia Fleming; his daughters, Darla Watt (Doug) and Cynthia Wuebbeling (Rob); his stepsons, Mark Proffitt and Eric Proffitt (Kendra); his grandchildren, Ben, Daniel Tishman, Brayden, Bryce, Kayla and Kyle Wuebbeling; his stepgrandchildren, Mason, Penelope and Berkeley Proffitt; his brothers, Gary Fleming (Ronda), John Aubry (Jim Hoover) and Donald Aubry (Suzan); his sibling-in-law Gail Fleming; his brother Richard; and his sister-in-law Freida Fleming (Jean Palmer Fleming).

In his later years, when Parkinson's tried to steal his strength, Dave went often to boxing and exercise classes, called Rock Steady Boxing.
