He was predeceased by : his parents, Joseph Schaefer and Sophia Schaefer (Leven); his children, Kimberly Schaefer and Steven F. Schaefer; his grandson Ryan Kaiser; and his siblings, Wilbert (Albina), James, Charles Schaefer (Helen) and Delores Stockman (LeRoy).

He is survived by : his children, Ronda Schaefer of Jefferson City and Marlan Schaefer (Lori) of St. Thomas; his grandson Samuel Schaefer; and his sister-in-law Rosie Schaefer. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
