He was loved and cherished by many people including: his mother Ruth Helen Channing; his wife Peggy Ann Brown; his children, Willis Daniel Stokes III of Fulton, Missouri, Victoria Lynn Knapp (Jim) of Columbia, Missouri, James Fulton Stokes of Columbia, Missouri, Hannah Suzanne Creed (Dean) of Mount Pleasant, Thomas Matthew Stokes (Sara) of Jefferson City, Missouri, Jeremiah Robert Stokes of Sedalia, Missouri and Samuel Howard Stokes (Kari) of Natchitoches, Louisiana; his siblings, Norton John Stokes of Penacook and Sharon Elizabeth Cooper; and his granddaughter Julianna Inez Stokes. He was also cherished by 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
