He was predeceased by: his father-in-law Don McQuinn; and his grandson Elijah Murphy Rhett Hurst. He is survived by: his parents, Charles Leroy and Mildred Mae Hurst (Nelson); his sons, Charles Brooks, Don Brett, Dallas Kevin and Taylor Cody; his wife Nancy Hurst; his sons, Brooks Hurst (Amy), Brett Hurst (Shelby), Dallas Hurst and Taylor Hurst (Kameron); his grandchildren, Finn, Tucker, Wendy, Landry and Elliott; his mother-in-law Janell McQuinn; and his brothers, Blake Hurst (Julie) of Tarkio and Brooks Hurst (Lydia) of Tarkio. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church or Community Hospital – Fairfax.
