She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Higham and Grace Higham; her husband Gerald Carter; her sons, Gary Carter and John Carter; her daughter-in-law Cindy Carter; and her grandson Carter Reese.
She is survived by: her children, Martin Valente, Mike Carter (Cheryl), Paul Carter, Larry Dunlap (Rhonda), Donna Reese and Judy Dunlap; her daughter-in-law Cathy Carter; and her grandchildren, Leslie, Justin, Kyle, Devin, Drew, Candace, Kason, Kristin, Kaci, Brandi, Brittany, Erica, Falisha, Ashely, Colt and Josh. She is also survived by 28 great-grandchildren.
