He was predeceased by: his parents, Wessie Byrd and Margret Byrd (Marie Cummings Byrd); and his former wife Sally Byrd. He is survived by: his wife Marie Cummings; his brother Willard Bill Byrd; his children, Wes (Lynn), Cynthia Vaughn (Richard), Jean Griffith (Henry) and Julia Soutullo; his grandchildren, Wayne Vaughn (Paige), David Vaughn (Amberlyn), Lisa Strum (Farrar), Stephen Griffith, Heather Mathias (Ryan), Joseph Soutullo (Erin), John Soutullo, Justin Soutullo and Hana Colvin; and his great grandchildren, Rose Mathias, Layne Mathias, Azalea Mathias, Tommy Soutullo, John Michael Soutullo, Ivy Vaughn, Houston Vaughn, Madison Strum, Vaughn Strum, Alex Griffith and Wyatt Wolf Soutullo.
