She was predeceased by : her husband Hayden Reed Newton Sr.; her granddaughter Terri Lynn Bright; her brothers, Robert I. Pope and Samuel Pope; and her parents, Robert Pope and Alice Pope.

She is survived by : her children, Alice Marie Harrison (Dennis) of Dallas, TX, Shirley Ann Jeffords (Jimmy) of Grenada, MS, Joann Collins of Charleston, MS and Hayden Newton Jr. (Teena) of Charleston, MS. She is also survived by five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren one great great grandchild.
