He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernile Shoemake and Vera Ford Shoemake; his wife Phyllis Ann Terrell Shoemake; his children, George Anthony Shoemake and Dianna Crum; his sister Carolyn Vineyard; and his half-brother Jimmy Dale Dixon.
He is survived by: his children, Diane Russell (John) of Vancleve, Suzanne Jackson (Mark) of Meridian and Fenton Joe Shoemake, Jr. (Doreen) of Vancleve; his stepchildren, Lisa Shoemake of Gulfport and Jerry Crum (Linda) of Lafayette, IN; his brother Ray Shoemake of Collins; and his aunt Peggy Lucky of Pascagoula. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren.
