She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Lois Snowden and Durrell Shelton; her husband Bill Backstrom; and her sons, Forrest (Sharon Hatch), Charles (Cheryl Measells) and Paul (Leslie Harrison). She was also cherished by six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and sister-in-laws.
