He was predeceased by: his parents, Dave Mitchell and Louise Mitchell; his grandparents, Manuel and Maymie Harton; his siblings, Lillie Mae Gardner (Lit), Harvey Ray (Mutt), Franklin Dee and Buster Lee; his daughters, Carolyn Hayden (Toot) and Melissa Hannah (Dennis); his grandson Jerome Mitchell (Loopy); and his great grandchild Darius Bridges (Buster).
He is survived by: his wife Dosie Maxine Mitchell; his children, David Jr. of Columbus, MS, Steve Jordan of Tuscaloosa, AL, Gary Mitchell of Millport, AL, Virginia Hannah (James) of Millport, AL, Regina Williams (Ofie) of Caledonia, MS, Stephanie Cox (Joe) of Millport, AL, Riletta Baker (Eddie) of Columbus, MS and Angale Williams (Franklin) of Columbus, MS; his foster sons, Jason Alderson of Millport, AL and Tommy Bridges of Millport, AL; his siblings-in-law, Sarah Minard (Clarence), Melody Cobb of Millport, AL, Booker T. Jordan of Columbus, MS, Thomas Jordan Jr. (Bud) of Millport, AL, Tommy Jordan (Barbara) of Millport, AL and Johnny Jordan of Millport, AL; and also Morton (Punkin). He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
