He was predeceased by: his parents, A. V. Rushing and Mary Irene Conn Rushing; and his brother David Mitchell Rushing. He is survived by: his wife Dianne Carter Rushing of Louisville; his sons, Jimmy Rushing (Candace) of Louisville and Jeremy Rushing (Addie) of Statesboro, Georgia.; his grandchildren, Rylee Martindale-Rushing, Hayes Daniel Rushing and Finn Martindale-Rushing; and his siblings, Brenda Sue Coleman (Chuck) and James Wendall Rushing.
Memorials in memory of Dewayne may be given to Shiloh Cemetery Fund, Methodist Rehab, or Mississippi Baptist Children's Village.
