She was predeceased by: her parents, Horis A. Ward and Sara Ward; and her husband Dr. James Verner Gatewood. She is survived by: her children, David Ward Gatewood (Tina) and Leigh Anne Gatewood Carmichael (Steve); her brothers, Alec Ward (Patti) and Richard Ward (Daphene); and her grandchildren, Harrison Carmichael, Hadley Carmichael and Lucas Gatewood.
