He was predeceased by: his parents, Susie Agnes Gregson and John Claude Johnson; his wife Arrie Olivia Gross Johnson; and his son Dannie Johnson. He is survived by: his daughters, Gwen Lollar (Mike) of Columbus, MS and Joann Averett (Bobby) of Calera, AL; his grandchildren, Toni Sadler (Barry), Teresa Sanders (Wesley), Tara Brown (Jon), Phillip Lollar (Kaitlyn), Adam Lollar (Kari), Leah Woodard (Jayson) and Dannie Joseph Johnson (Heather); and his sister Sarah Smith of Atmore, AL.. He is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.
