He was predeceased by: his parents, L. C. Barksdale and Beatrice Strickland Barksdale; and his wife Karen Simmons Barksdale. He is survived by: his daughter Tammy; his son-in-law Ernie Nowland of Columbus; his sons, Jamie, Ashley Barksdale of Caledonia, Randy and Morgan Barksdale of Columbus; his siblings, Timmy Barksdale (Brenda), Barry Barksdale, Johnny Barksdale, Andy Barksdale, Vicki Barksdale Smith (Harvey), Gayla Barksdale Roenspie, Alice Barksdale Shaw (Farley) and Carol Barksdale Sikora; and his grandchildren, Byron, Ernest, Shalynn, Raeleigh, Lyam Nowland, Gauge, Landon, Aiden, Brianna, Bryson Barksdale, Michael and John Barksdale.
