He was loved and cherished by many people including: his grandson Hunter Underwood; his parents, Othoniel Kirby Underwood of Germantown and John Ralph Underwood; his wife Beverly Poirier Underwood; his sons, Jared Underwood (Tracy) of Ariton, AL, Jeremy Underwood (Jessica) of Bartlett, TN and John Underwood (Emily) of Bartlett, TN; his sisters, Johnnie Peterson of Wisconsin and Bonnie Johnson (Ronnie) of Bartlett, TN; and his grandchildren, Brooke, Ashlyn, Andrew, Joshua, Hannah Underwood and David Underwood.
