We bid farewell to George Richard Munton Jr. of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on October 3, 2025 at the age of 76. George touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his father George Richard Munton; his son-in-law Eric Bryan Covington of Jackson; his brother-in-law Glenn Edward Lowery of Lucedale; and his family Normandy. He is survived by: his wife Wanda Davis Munton; his children, Nathan Munton (Lauren), Owen Munton (Erin) and Abby Street (Heath); his sister Martha Munton Sanderson (Conrad); his sister-in-law Jan Davis Lowery; his pet Rosie; and his grandchildren, Nate Munton, Wil Munton, Caleb Hoyt, Andrew Munton, Sam Munton, Gaines Street, Amelia Street and Kate Street.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 6th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Temple Baptist Church (5220 Old Hwy 11, Hattiesburg, MS 39402). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 6th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 6th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Magnolia Cemetery (286 Mill St, Lucedale, MS 39452).
The family would like to thank the staff of Forrest General Hospital and Asbury House and most importantly, our mother, who faithfully cared for him throughout his Parkinson's journey.
