Though Karen Marguerite may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Karen Marguerite touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, David W. Yarbrough and Marguerite H. Yarbrough; and her siblings, Carolyn Huttig and David Yarbrough. She is survived by: her close friend Melba R. Bryson of Hattiesburg; and her nieces, Melanie Armstrong of Cabot, AR, Michelle Yarbrough of Montgomery, AL and Mary Kathleen Yarbrough of Mexico.
She was a member of the Board of Directors of the National Science Foundation Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research in Mississippi and its Mississippi Alliance for Minority Participation. For many years she was a member of the National Science Foundation Advisory Panel on Science and Engineering Research Facilities and a Councilor for Oak Ridge Associated Universities.
