A remarkable man. Hero of many. His money was your money if you needed it. His name Alex means lover of mankind. It was evident in the people that he served unselfishly and genuinely, touched by the feelings of their infirmities. He went on through his lifetime feeding people, paying rent/bills, counseling couples, he put nineteen people through college, while also, fixing people's houses, working on cars, cutting grass, getting people jobs, and on and on. He loved to laugh but was
never too big to cry.
Retired SGM Alex Blackburn is survived by: Seven biological children: James Buck, Alex Blackburn, Jr., Janice Blackburn Wheeler, Cheryl Blackburn, James Darren, Blackburn, Stephen Blackburn, Timothy Blackburn. His brother Sam Blackburn and sister Mildred Jennings (Bennie). Fourteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, three great-great grandchild and a host of other Family members and Friends.
Retired SGT. Major will be forever remembered in the hearts of men and women around the world for his generosity, kindness, and care that he gave to so many people around the world.
For his 80th birthday, SGM Alex Blackburn, was presented with a photo and Congratulatory Letter from the 44th President of the United States of America, President Barack Obama and Mrs. Michelle Obama.
Retired SGM Alex B. Blackburn will be laid to rest at Arlington Cemetery. Until arrangements with Arlington Cemetery have been made, Retired Sargent Major Alex B.
