She was predeceased by: her husband James M. Vardaman; and her sister Margaret Liles. She is survived by: her stepson James M. Vardaman; and her grandchildren, Maya Vardaman of Christian Vardaman, Patrick, Charlotte, Virginia Johnson and Olivia Vardaman.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Southern Poverty Law Center.
