He was predeceased by: his wife Rita Thornton Gambrell Leggett; his parents, Walter A. Leggett and Myrtle Pugh Leggett; and his siblings, Lucille Mixon, Elizabeth Sanderson, Louise Parker, Betty Hathorn, Curtis Leggett, Martin Leggett, James Allen Leggett and J. W. Leggett.
He is survived by: his sons, Walter Ray Leggett (Connie), Bruce Allen Leggett (Peggy) and Terry Wayne Gambrell (Tammy); and his sister Anne Watts. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
