He was predeceased by: his wife Elizabeth Collins Hathorn; his sons, Charles Lee Hathorn, Jr. and John Allen Etheridge, Sr. of Pheba, MS; his grandchildren, Allen Etheridge, Charles Scott Etheridge and Emily Trista Etheridge Peters; his great grandchildren, Kade, Sage, Reid and Arein Etheridge; and also Patricia Etheridge.
