He was predeceased by: his parents, Maynard Mathis Hassell and Lois Vivian Seale Hassell; and his sister Margaret Hassell Beard (D. T. Beard). He is survived by: his children, David Robert Hassell and Sharon Dee Hassell Bell (Thomas Bell); his grandson Alexander Davenport Hassell (Sarah Donnell Hassell); and his great grandchild Amelia Davenport Hassell.
