He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond McCarty and Flois McCarty (King); his brothers, Edsel and Emmett McCarty; his sister-in-law Ada Mullins McCarty; and his son Melton L. McCarty, Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Helen; his daughters, Cynthia M. Hutchinson, Kimberly M. Davis and Diane M. Jackson (Bert); his grandchildren, Catherine H. Walker (Bradford), Annah D. McWhorter (Wesley), Helen H. Kernodle (David), John Hutchinson, Jr. (KC), Caleb Davis (Leslie), Trey Jackson (Parker), Natalie Davis of Elberta, AL, Chris Jackson of Hoover, AL, Hannah McCarty of Starkville, MS and Elizabeth Ann McCarty of Memphis, TN.; his sisters, Glaniece M. Roberts (Charles) and Joyce M. White (Johnny); his grandsons-in-law, David Kernodle, Wesley McWhorter and Bradford Walker; and also, John Hutchinson, Jr., Caleb Davis, Trey Jackson and Chris Jackson. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
