She is survived by: her children, James "Jay" Newhouse and Suzanne Newhouse Mullen (Brendan Mullen); her husband Jim; her granddaughters, Lillian "Lilly", Frances "Frankie" and Lucy Mullen; and her pets, Dixie and Maggie.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Carolyn's memory to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance or the Austin Humane Society.
