He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Howell and Ava Breland Howell; his brothers, Narvel Howell, Alexander Howell, Fred Howell, Farris Howell and Phillip Howell; and his son-in-law Elliott Havard.

He is survived by: his children, Sondria Havard, Leon Howell, Jr. (Jennifer) and Susie Luna. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 19 great grand-children also, survived by other relatives family and friends.
