He was predeceased by: his wife Gloria Faye Temple Thornton; his siblings-in-law, Calvin Temple, Helen Beatty and Stewart Beatty; and his half-brother Steve Simmons.
He is survived by: his wife Mike Thornton of Smithdale, MS; his sister-in-law Linda Temple Dunaway of Summit; his grandson Champ Thornton (Wendy Reid Thornton) of Anniston, AL; his great grandchildren, Colby Michael Thornton of Anniston, AL and Tristan Champ Thornton of Anniston, AL; and also Mary Thornton of Smithdale, MS.
