He was predeceased by: his wife Mae Evelyn Monk; his sons, Freddy Lee Hylander and Wesley Hylander; and his siblings, John W. Monk, Wilmer Monk, Rosie Benton and Myrtle Foster.

He is survived by: his children, Jeff Monk (Wanda), Doyle Monk (Frann) and Linda Jones (Tim). He is also survived by nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
