He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee W. Cowart and Margaret Jane Gordon Cowart; his wife Mary Elizabeth Wicker Cowart; and his siblings, Willie Cowart, Sadie Martinez, Ida Payne, Marie Culpepper, Edna Milan, Lavell Anders, Leslie Cowart, Henry Cowart, Chester Cowart and Clyde Cowart.
He is survived by: his children, Billy Cowart (Cheryl), Judy Jones (Jimmy), Bobby Cowart (Donna) and Helen Myrick (Allen); and his grandchildren, Joe Cowart, Christina Theriot, Ann Jones, Jimmy Jones, Jr., Stephanie Ainsworth, Corey Myrick and Conner Myrick. He is also survived by 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
