He was predeceased by : his grandparents, Carl, Cymbeline Allen and Amy Black; his great-grandparents, Lacy and Itra Swords; and his mother-in-law Jo Anne Willis.

He is survived by : his wife Anne Willis Wells; his daughter Olivia Taylor Wells; his parents, B. L. "Junebug" Wells (June) and Carlene Wells; his children, Clay Garrett, Lauren Dabney (Josh), Taylor Garrett (Brooklyn) and Andrew Garrett; his grandchildren, Lexi, Ezra, Micah, Caleb, Luke, Emily, Isaiah, Mila and Scottie; his uncle Gary; his aunt Teresa Allen; his cousins, Josh Allen (Kelly) and Joni Gilmer (Will); and his father-in-law Lester Willis.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 30th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Greatest Mission Baptist Church (3055 US-278, Pontotoc, MS 38863). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 30th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
