With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Joe Mathis (Oxford, Mississippi), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 15, 2025 at the age of 68. Though Joe may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Joe touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 24th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the L. Hodges Funeral Service (721 Damascus Rd, Oxford, MS 38655). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 25th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the First Non-Denominational Church (1102 Bratton Rd, New Albany, MS 38652). A burial will be held on Saturday, October 25th 2025 at the Pleasant Grove MB Church (1010 Co Rd 91, New Albany, MS 38652).
