He was predeceased by: his sisters, Margie Cox, Mildred "Lucy" Greenwood, Agnes Brown and Dorothy Greenwood; and his wife Willa Mae "Billie" Bryant.
He is survived by: his children, Vanessa Barrett, Leslie Faye Barrett Strange, Joseph "Joey" C. Barrett III and Brandon Barrett; his grandchildren, Barrett Womack, Lora Beth Barrett, Brianna Strange, Joseph "Neal" C. Barrett IV and Lennon Rose Barrett; and his great grandchild Elliott Womack.
