He was predeceased by : his parents, Lester Leroy Harris and Berniece Harris. He is survived by : his wife Ruth Harris of Waynesboro, MS; his children, Chris Harris of Daphne, AL, Beth Cohen of Asheville, NC and Amy Wilkes of Asheville, NC; his step-sons, Bo Beard (Delaine) and Mike Beard (Barbara); and his granddaughter Elizabeth Brown of Asheville, NC. He is also survived by several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
