He was predeceased by : his parents, John Paul Doherty and Erma Lee Odom Doherty; his sisters, Jean Doherty West and Shirlene Andrews; and his daughter Monica Doherty.

He is survived by : his wife Debbie Doherty; his daughters, Ashley Doherty Jackson (Robert) and Tracy Varnadore (Keith) of Mobile, AL; his grandchildren, Ansley and Robert Jackson; and his great grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Morgan Varnadore.
