He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Marion Pumphrey and Lucille Pumphrey; his brothers, Charles Robert, Curtis and Rev. Cecil Pumphrey; and his brother-in-law George Perkins.
He is survived by: his wife Mildred Pumphrey of West Point; his children, Tami Riley (Dave) of West Point, Libby Pierce of West Point, John Stovall, III (Jackie) and Steven Pumphrey of West Point; his grandchildren, Shannon Hall (R. D.), Erica Turnipseed (Brock), Chris Rodgers and Kale Pierce (Maegan); his great grandchildren, Evan Atkins, Hannah Atkins, Dalton Turnipseed, Riley Turnipseed and Waverly Jean Pierce; his siblings, Margaret Gurley of Houston and J. E. Pumphrey (Evelyn) of Houston; and his brother-in-law Arlie Perkins, Jr. (Sandra) of Aberdeen.
