He was predeceased by : his parents, Roy Shanklin and Evelyn Shanklin of Drummond; his brothers, Donald and Irvin (Pete); and his nephew Robert W..

He is survived by : his former life partner Virginia Nurse; his children, Lovina Lee, Wendy Lynn, Robert Wayne and Kevin James; and his wife Viola Taylor (Vi). He is also survived by 8 children, 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
