He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd O'Brien and Evelyn O'Brien (Raymond). He is survived by: his wife Shirley; his children, Rick (DeNeisse) and Deb Burke (Mike) of Bismarck, ND; his grandchildren, Bryan O'Brien, Helen Swanson (Joel), Tessa O'Brien, Kyle Burke and Leah Burke; his great grandchildren, Estella Swanson and Dylan Bjorgaard; and his brothers, Gerald O'Brien (Marcia) of Colorado and Michael O'Brien (Maria) of Colorado. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center Foundation and/or the Bismarck Cancer Care Foundation.
