He is survived by : his former life partner Sharon Hennessy; his daughter Dawn Lee Kangas; his wife Florence Maerz Brumbaugh Kangas; his son-in-law Ben Wilson; his grandchildren, Presley and Maxwell Wilson; his brother Carl Kangas; his sister-in-law Carol; and his sister Gladys Hyenga. He is also survived by step-children, twelve grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
