She was predeceased by: her parents, William Stephens and Annie Mae Johnson Stephens; her husband George Peterson Jr.; her son Thomas Peterson; and her brother Junior Stephens.

She is survived by: her siblings, L. D. Stephens and Sarah Murphy; and also, Johnnie Peterson of Albemarle, George Peterson, Jr. (Rita) of Albemarle, Eula Hampton of Albemarle, Patricia Harris of Albemarle, Eva Allen of Charlotte, Sherland Peterson of Charlotte, Brenda Miller of Charlotte and Saundra Lloyd of Charlotte.
