He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel Monroe Harkey and Dora Bell Harkey; his wife Mary Evelyn Harkey; and his son Douglas Harkey. He is survived by: his son Gary Steven Harkey (Katherine A.); his grandson Gary Steven Harkey, Jr. (Michelle L.); his stepgrandson Jeremy Lumpkins; and his nephew Marvin. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
