He was predeceased by: his parents, David Isiah and Nicie Russell Holt; his wife Rachel Roberson Holt; and his siblings, George Monroe Holt, Elvon Millard Holt and Margaret Holt.

He is survived by: his son John David Holt (Wanda) of Albemarle; and his great grandchildren, Paisley and Daxton Harris.
