He was predeceased by: his brothers, Jim and Dan; and his granddaughter Erin Phillips. He is survived by: his wife Susan; his sister Patsy Miller of Lexington; his children, Jay Phillips (Kelley) of Albemarle, Ashley Wall (Ernie) of Greensboro, Catherine Nettles (Troy) and Molly Schoneveld (Dave) of Los Angeles; and his grandchildren, Braxton Wall (Katherine) of Raleigh, Kellyn Barger (Ronnie) of Waxhaw, Jillian Stallings (Vic) of Albemarle, Fletcher Wall of Los Angeles, Carr Nettles of Greensboro and Claire Nettles of Greensboro. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
