He was predeceased by : his parents, George Cartrette of Washington and Pearl Britt Cartrette; his granddaughter Emaline Cox; and his siblings, Sonny Cartrette, Albert Newton, Sadie Cartrette, Georgia Lee Umland and Sandra Wrenn.

He is survived by : his wife Marion Landon Cartrette; his children, Savannah Cox (Parker), McKenna of Salisbury and Tony Landon; his grandchildren, Rachel and Austin; and his nieces, Janet Mays and Luann Boling.
