He was predeceased by: his parents, Hardy Huston Whitley and Virginia Kate Smith Whitley. He is survived by: his wife Janice Whitley; his daughter Rhonda Marie Whitley of Albemarle; his stepchildren, Lisa Clark of New London, Jennifer Clark of Albemarle, Doug Clark (Michelle) of Charlotte and Andrew Clark (Romina) of Panama City, FL; his grandchildren, Jake Wainwright, B. J. Wainwright, Roc Clark, Rikki Clark, Brittney Hicks, Courtney Hicks, Emma Harris, Maggie Harris, Allie Chase and Alexia Clark; his sister Sharon Cox (Rick); his sibling's children, Stacy Stogner, Daniel Cox and Kevin Cox; and his pets, Jack and Jill. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
