“As childhood friends at Endy, Joan and I had many fun times playing basketball and sharing secrets. I remember talking to her at our 50th high school reunion and thinking how nice that we were able to reconnect after many years. My condolences to the family. Maxine Whitley James Jester.”

Luanne Williams wrote a sympathy message

“A dear lifelong friend to our family, Joan was a year behind my parents in school, so they were close even as teens. As a child, I was thrilled when the Almonds came to visit because we knew it would be fun. They put in a pond on the land next to ours, which my Dad enjoyed for decades until his death last year. As members of the Jokesters club, they brought joy to many at New Year's parties and on their trips. I will always remember Joan with a mischievous twinkle in her eye and a ready smile.”
