He was predeceased by: his parents, Ed Smith and Ann Lowder Smith. He is survived by: his wife Lorraine Mauldin Smith; his children, Suzanne McLester (Allen) of Albemarle and Stephen Smith (Elizabeth) of New London; his brother Jimmy Richard "Runt" Smith (Cathy) of New London; and his grandchildren, Grayson McLester, Madison Smith, Barrett McLester and Josiah Smith.
