He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Benfield and Frances Beeson Benfield; his brothers, Clark and Bud Benfield; and his grandson Travis Benfield.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Brown Benfield; his children, Teresa Byrd (Tim), Gary Benfield (Sheivon) and Jennifer Allen (Greg); his great grandchildren, Jacob Blackmer, Bryan Hollingsworth and Nyomi Worrell; and his sisters, Margaret Reynolds, Nancy Hankins, Betty Small and Myrtle Dotson.
