He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray Jefferson and Ruby Newsom Payne; and his grandson Chris Payne. He is survived by: his wife Glendene Payne; his children, Jeff Payne (Dale Clark Hankins) of Archdale and Deana Payne Norton (David) of Sophia; his grandsons, Eric Payne (Katherine), Jeremy Payne, David Norton, Jr. and Dylan Norton; his great grandchildren, Jacob Payne, Jeremiah Payne and Emilia Payne; and his sister Jackie Walker (Randy) of Archdale. He is also survived by aunt, many cousins, nieces and nephews.
