She was predeceased by: her parents, Lindsay Small and Lizzie Tysinger Small; and her husband Thurman Whitaker. She is survived by: her sons, Tony Whitaker of Asheboro and Terry Whitaker of Asheboro; her siblings, Thelma Harris of Asheboro, Ruth Wilson of Asheboro, Edith "Cookie" Cutshaw of Asheboro and Buck Small of Asheboro; and her grandchildren, T. J. Whitaker, LeAnn Phillips, Amber Wilson, Stacey Hussey, Terri Cardwell, Dustin Whitaker and Calob Whitaker. She is also survived by 16 great grandchildren.
