He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Lee Sawyer, Sr. and Ada "Elsie" Rhue Sawyer; and his siblings, Samuel Lewis Sawyer, James Sawyer, Sr. and Ada Cuthrell.

He is survived by: his brother George "Al" Sawyer (Vivian) of Lexington.
